Listed below are details of many of the services we offer our customers. However, in reality these services extend to any work within the building and house maintenance area.
We concentrate on domestic projects, as we feel this is a more personal area.
We are happy to quote for anything you might consider to be building related, and, even if we don’t undertake that type of work, we may be able to put you in touch with someone local who does.
Although we do not undertake design work ourselves, we do have good contacts within the field of architects and structural engineers. We can point you in the direction of these providers who would consult with you directly and organise the complete package with planners and building control. At all times we would stay in contact with these designers so that we are able to keep you advised of the build costs and build implications.
We are happy to undertake new build construction work and barn conversions. Normally in this process we would expect to act as main contractor and oversee the complete process. The complete package could be carried out ‘in-house’ with sub-contractors being used for those elements we would not normally undertake once work reaches the scale of a complete build. Trades brought in remain under our overall control and PRK Building Services accept full responsibility for the work.
We are also quite happy to work alongside your own subsidiary trades if required.
The same basic process applies to extensions as does to larger contracts. We can work through the whole process ourselves, even advising on likely cost before plans are drawn. The complete process through excavation, brickwork, roofing, plastering, kitchen/bathrooms, heating, plumbing, tiling and electrics can be undertaken by PRK Building Services.
At the initial point of quotation the individual elements can be broken down so that you can choose to assign certain areas to other specialist companies if required.
Bathrooms and Kitchens
We provide a complete bathroom and kitchen service. This obviously includes wetroom builds, (which are very popular at the moment), and en-suite builds.
We are happy to help with design or work with designs you already have. Materials can be sourced by you for a labour only service, or we can take your design and endeavour to match the design from our own suppliers, hopefully offering a financial saving in the process. Kitchen appliances can be sourced and provided if required, using all the main brands and manufacturers, or if the budget is tight we can offer recommendations from lesser known suppliers.
Gardens and Landscaping
Gardens are the additional room in your property and nobody wants a boring, plain room if it can be avoided.
Garden design incorporates many elements of building work, particularly where walling or paving and patios might be concerned and so it's perfectly sensible to assume that garden design and construction is an extension of a good builders work portfolio.
We can assist you in the design of your newly landscaped garden and where electrical or water based features are concerned we have the tradesmen with the relevant skill set to undertake the work.
Artificial lawns require groundwork preparation very similar to the standard building work undertaken when constructing extensions.
Raised sleeper beds, decking and fencing require the basic carpentry skills used daily in general building.

Patios, Driveways and Decking
All types of materials are available in these areas, and we are happy to advise you on the best products for your requirements. Installations are carried out with a view to providing an attractive appearance, whilst offering a product that is up to the task it is required to do! Nobody wants a driveway that will sink once a bicycle rides over it, so substantial sub-surfaces are laid, and the best materials for the ground type are always purchased.
Restoration and Improvements
We happily undertake all types of maintenance work to any domestic property. We can offer re-plastering services, door hanging, tiling, electrical upgrades and improvements, window replacements, or even a nice conservatory or garden-room to the rear of your property.
All our quotations are free, with no obligation.
We undertake all electrical work, using registered sub-contractors. For ease of calculation we can usually provide you with a components list of prices, which cover labour and materials for individual elements of work, it’s just a case then of you working out exactly what you might need.
On electrical work associated with planning and building regulations, our work is signed off and the appropriate forms registered with the correct authorities, saving you all the hassle.
Ceramic tiling is normally quoted at a square metre rate which covers the cost of labour, adhesive and grout. Porcelain, slate and other tile work may require a more individual quotation method.
Similar methods and working practices are used in the process of transforming a roof space as are used in other extensions. It may be that the roof void needs adapting or it may need totally altering, in either case it will almost certainly require a large amount of structural alteration.
We work in conjunction with a local steel supplier to manufacture and fabricate all the steelwork designed by either your structural engineers or ours. Using a local family business to produce these steel sections results in more work within the local community and less impact on the environment through long distance transport of materials. The high levels of specialist insulations required in a loft conversion are also sourced locally.
The specialist tilers and felt roofers are local family outfits who we have worked alongside for many years, and as always all work is overseen by PRK Building Services.
There are many types, style and finish of conservatory available in the modern market. We work with a local window specialist to produce uPVC conservatories of varying specification.
We can arrange for designs to be drawn up prior to quotation so that you can decide what style of conservatory you require.
We can also advise on materials, for example, polycarbonate or glass roof? Clear or coloured glass, with heat reflective and anti-glare finishes, are also available. Low level walls can be in brick, block and render, or uPVC panel finish. Floors can be tiled or laminated, have underfloor heating or have wall mounted radiators for heating. We can also provide traditional sliding doors, French doors or bi-fold fully opening doors. The choices are endless!
Windows and Doors
uPVC windows and doors can be quoted for, supplied and installed. These can be supplied in various designs and finishes. We are also able to supply and install new aluminium frames.
Composite doors and bi-fold systems are popular and brochures are available on request.
Our window installer is independent of PRK Building Services, but, as always, if he is brought in on one of our contracts we remain ultimately responsible.
In 99% of cases we never ever take money in advance of work commencement. The only exception to this is that if specialist materials or services are required at the very early stage of a contract. On smaller jobs you will not generally get an invoice until all work is completed. With contracts extending over 4 weeks or more we issue monthly invoices.
All of our work carries a personal guarantee, and as we work mainly within our local community it would not be good practice to do anything other than provide a service people are happy with. We are a long established family business, and wherever possible we source our materials locally or use sub-contract trades, (the majority of whom we have worked with for many years), from within the local community.
